[QUOTE=nlnfns;1076182]Hmm, seeing you guys gives lot of hope.
Have seen many horror stories in the forum about Audis after
60K miles or so, was having doubts about the reliability of
these cars. Was thinking of selling mine just before the warranty
expires.
May be don't have to :-)

If you make sure to do the proper maintenance as always stated on our B5s they will last for a long time. I was a little worried about getting a 2.8 to be honest but I'm very happy I did. I've had a little running issue at first but that was from a gummed up icv and throttle body. Just took a little cleaning. 104k on it now and I feel very confident driving it. A lot more than my 05 Saab 9-3 I had.
On the belt and everything most places are working it in before the 90k service. I would really get that changed before 70k. The whole kit. Just my opinion .

so for things like the timing belt and other stuff, about how much would that run me if i did it myself? one of the few things that's good about being in the military is i can rent out a spot in the garage for $2 an hour and the people there walk you through pretty much anything.

Your looking at around $300 for belt kit and 3 liters of G12 coolant.

As a technician at a shop I highly recommend doing the timing belt before 90k. Last time I saw one go out was an 03 A6 3.0. The water pump went out and took out the belt. Cost 5k all said and done because the valves cracked the lip on 2 pistons and you could only buy them in sets of 6.

Well I bought my car at 84k and then drove from NY all the way to MT and then I'll be doing a round trip for Christmas so I need to get that stuff done, but so far I haven't had any problems except a little squeeling and my alignment's a bit messed up since I got new tires on there, but I haven't really done any of the 90k maintenence and I'm almost up to 98k, so I'd assume the guy I bought the car from did some stuff to it first.
