Default 94 a4 2.8 30v...... What other motors will work??

My gf blew the motor in her car and i am trying to find the least expensive option to fix this car. It is a 98 a4 2.8 v6 2 wheel drive auto. I have had trouble finding a motor and was curious if any of the vw motors will bolt in.

Thanks for the help
Justin

least expensive may be to repair your current engine. what do you mean "blew" the engine?
no compression? timing belt snapped? smoking?

if your doing the work yourself you will save a ton of money if you just need to replace some piston rings or some valves. that would only be a few hundred bucks and your labor time versus buying a new engine and spending even more time to put it in.

normaly its cheaper to fix an engine, and the only reason you couldnt do that would be if you snapped a rod and have a hole in the side of it, or you spun a bearing and cant repair the block.

Im guessing since it was his "girlfriends car" the oil hasn't been changed in like 15k and it burned up the bearings on the crank and cams. For some reason i end up replacing more engines that women drive...no offence to female members

Ya either fix it or your gonna just have to get another 30v. Any AHA 2.8 30v engine will work but thats just cuz they are the exact same engine. They can be found in the Passat's and the A6's (I think the A6 at least).

ya, gf knocked a hole in the oil pan and drove it with out oil. Spun a crank bearing. i have found a good bottom end for 250 shipped and would just have to swap the heads on but havin a hard time deciding if i want to take on the project of just sell it as is?

Any idea on what it might be worth with the bad engine, body is straight and interior is 7-10. Black, good tires.

Thanks Guys
Justin

Honestly its worth 1k tops. If someone had an engine for it they might give you 2k.

Where are you? I would be very interested in buying it to resell my dad owns a mechanic shop and does this all the time. Oh and I would need some pictures and info. I am assuming automatic, fwd right? If its an auto quattro would be ideal but it shouldn't be too hard to sell anyways.
