96 2.8L Battery Dying consistently! help me pleeeease
well windshield washer container thing is leaking, the seem over the passangers airbag is like opened up(dont wanan super glue it just in case thats bad), needs 02 sensor to pass inspection, already replaced like 2 or 3, I was told the timing belt was never done, has some cracks in it (95k miles), Radio still doesnt work, side mirrors are all messed up, heating things leaked, i swear the awd drive sucks ***, i slide like crazy..maybe needs tires...you know how to fix any? pm if you want
Thanks for all the help guys.
I actually didnt mean the HID ballast. There is a thing on my battery from positive to negative, it has an LED that blinks. Came with my car.
I took it off ones and the HIDS dimmed and the interior lights dimmed. So I put it back on. I can snap a pic soon of it.
Could it really be my altenator? I would love to just be able to fix this **** but I have no clue to know what it is.
I bet it is my aftermarket alarm, although I drove the car for a year before anything like this ever happened.
Is this common? I see someone else has this problem. This god forsaken Audi. I just did serpentine belt, timing belt and water pump 80 miles ago. I put less than 10K on it in the 3 + years Ive owned it. Maybe it is time to sell it....

just get off your lazy *** and go down to the parts store and have them test your alternator.. its free too so u have NO excuse not to go, at least it will let u know one more thing it might not be it... and if it is the alternator then problem solved
NM.. found them.. usually used for aftermarket stereo systems.. Also sold by the unscrupulous as 'better' for you cars ECU..

If you removed yours and the lights 'dimmed' I would call the batt being weak. Prolly due to the crappy 'stablizer' leaking current across the terminals, draining the battery.

Mr. Phil,
Your leading this guy on the wrong track, how can a bad alternator give him ANY of the symptoms he's explaining? The battery is charging just fine, since its not dying when he's driving it. It's just loosing its charge (that it got from the alternator); so it's either a week battery (doubt it since its been doing this for such a long time and would of gone bad by now), or something is draining it. Someone had suggested that you put a meter inline with the Positive wire, and this is exactly what needs to be done. Would take litterly 10 minutes to jimmy it inline and start pulling fuses. Get a cheap multimeter from Sear or whatever for $10-30 and check the amps. GL!
