Update:
Seems like the battery had died while I was working on the car. I had attached a battery charger, but failed to plug it in... So it turns out that I had flooded the pistons and a couple minutes of dry starting had the car start right back up... now onto changing the valve cover gaskets, they're leaking pretty badly, any tips?

 

put some sealant in the corners where the gasket bends up over the timing belt cover so it doesnt leak. other then that its pretty strait forward.
