98 1.8t intake
Hello,
I finally brought my first car and i am looking to put an intake on it. I know the basics of the installation but when looking to see what size filter i could fit i came across two things attached to the filter box and i am not quite sure what to do with them after the filter box is removed.

thanks

top one is your ICM (remember this when someone says "you need to replace your ICM" thats what it is) you pretty much just unbolt it and zip tie it out of the way. it gets hot, so put it somewhere with as much airflow as possible. and not next to anything combustible if there is anything.
the lower one is your MAF i believe. once you get it all apart you will see how it goes together. the cone filter attaches to one side of the MAF and the TIP to the other side.

Slopoke- i would like to get into this and i figured that this would be a good place to start.
AutoUnionFan- I will be buying my friends weapon-r filter and a ram possibly. i am thinking that I will also make a heat shield in my shop. not too sure just yet tho. wanna get everything planned out first.
thanks ghost6303, where would you recommend i put the ICM? and im not quite sure what u mean about where to place the MAF.
Sorry for all the questions

imagine you were looking at this picture from the top instead of from the side, thats whats under that round rubber piece. the air filter gets clamped onto one side, the turbo intake pipe gets clamped onto the other.
