Exclamation 98 a4 rattling noise

Hey everyone! I purchased an Audi last week for the first time and its awesome. today though, I got home and my wife said "why am i hearing a rattling noise?" I turned down the music and sure enough, the engine was rattling. I lifted the hood and I'm 90 percent sure that its coming from the engine. The oil is fine, no codes that came up when I diagnosed it. I did read somewhere in here about almost the same problem but the replys were brake pad problems.. I didnt have any loss of power either. Also it's a 1.8t if that helps at all. I'm thinking a loose bolt somewhere maybe but, where would a bolt come loose in the first place?

Update:
I opened the valve cover and didnt find anything broken or worn parts. After patiently trying to listen to where exactly the noise is coming from, im 98 percent sure that its coming from the front next to the bumper.. The rubber belt looks brand new as well.

Check to see if the wastegate shaft has any play, if it is loose it will sound like a bolt rattling around in a can.

Are you talking about the DV? The previous owner installed a Baileys and i looked inside and it's brand new. The rattling doesnt have a steady rattle to it. Its less noisy when cold but noticable when engine is warm.

I looked around on YouTube and found a couple of videos by audinutt and it definitely sounds just like mine. He made another video after he had his lifter replaced and it sounded normal again. Has anyone tried replacing lifters before? Is it hard to do?
