Default A4 1.8 auto problems

Hi all

I have just bought an Audi A4 1.8 auto se.
It's a real minter and has covered just 63k miles - been owner by an RAF guy.

However - I have a few questions that I need some help with:

When does it need belting, and how long does it take (or how much is it likely to cost)

I am getting some knocking noises from the NSF suspension - are they prone for anything in particular?

It uses more petrol than my other half's BMW 330Ci auto petrol! Is this normal?

Is there a dial for the dash lights? They seem so dim they may even be off - the light I am seeing could just be reflected?

It needs front discs and pads - I'm fine to do this myself, but I don't want it in bits before I find out that "B5's need the xyz special tool". Anything I should know?

Finally - the display for the climate control is a bit dodgy. Most of the time it's blank unless you push the plastic surround in - bad connection? Common?

Thanks all! BTW EDIT: It's a N plate

ok...

Your manual says the car needs a new belt around at 120k so your probably good on that for a while... some guys do it themeselves.. a dealer will rape you on price a garage is prob like 500$ do it yourself and you could get out arouind 300$

I have stock suspension and mine knocks when i slow to a stop or shift down threw the gears, could be CV axle, warped rotors since you said you needed knew ones..lots of people on here seem to have that prob..

Brakes arent to bad just dont strip the main allen bolts they can cause problems.. make sure you get pads with sensors...

all my displays are muffed up and it costs alot of money to fix.. theres a company called pixel fix that can help you with all those problems but like i said its alot of money .. google them and you will find there website

hope this helps..
