Default a4 2.6 se auto idel overheating help

Hi got a chance to get a cheap audi a4 2.6 se automatic it has been seating for about 16 mounths a new thermostat battrey water pump has been put in but the last cupall of day she has been runing rough she starts fine butidel is 1200to 1400 rpm and when u let your foot off the gas at low speeds or put in neutrall at a red lightthe rpm serge from 1200 to about 1800 she also overheats esay have to put the heating on to cool her down from 120 back to round the 90 mark.took her to kwik fit for a diagnostic it had no falut codes but the guy said sumthing about base idel too high or poss collant temp sendor it could be a process of alimantion and kwik fit dont do that kind of stuffhas anyone gpt any experience or help thanks a lot
