Default a4 or a6

Hey guys whats up? I am new to the Audi world I was wondering if I could get some advice What are the pros and cons of an A4 over an A6? Which would you prefer if they were about the same price? A4 1.8t or A6 2.7t.
Thanks Alot
Joe

A4 1.8T=$
A6 2.7T=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

In terms of repair cost.

A4 is easier to upgrade, not much out there for the A6, and what there is gets expensive real quick.

if you get the A6 go 4.2, great looks with the wider body. That's what I'm looking into right now since i need something bigger(interior size)

I agree with akielb about the repair costs. Other thing, I just thing an A6 would be too big for my tastes. I think most of the other people on here are gonna be a bit biased towards the A4 too being that this is the A4 forum lol.

Good luck whichever you choose!

i dont like the rounded rear end of the 6's. whatever you do dont get a 2.8. the 2.7tt can accept just about all the same mods an S4 can, but you are going to be paying S4 price for all those parts too.

if an A4 1.8t and a A4 2.7tt, with similar miles and years, were about the same price, there had to be something wrong with the A6.

a 4.2 would be friggen sweet though. except on gas.

I have been reading about the A6 with the 4.2 and it seems the factory rating on fuel usage is about the same. 17 city and 25 highway. I can live with that. What I haven't found out yet is if the 4.2 was available with a manual transmission or not. I did a search on autotrader not limiting the miles away from my zip but it came up with no manual transmissions with the A6 and 4.2L engine. I still might buy one though.

4.2 is not available with a manual tranny. Sorry.

On the plus side - only a few more months till PES releases the 4.2 Supercharger.

Get the 2.7 A6 and chip it. It will own an A4 with plenty more mods than that. Yea the 2.7 mods are pricey, but all he needs is a $400 flash to be pretty happy with the power. To make the A4 equal to a chipped 2.7, it would take nothing short of an elim, which will cost a fair bit before all is said and done.
