a4 b5 seat swap
Hi everyone, im new to the forum thing so i'll do my best to set this up right.
I have a 2001 a4 b5.5 (i believe it's a .5) manual transmission 1.8t, engine code awm- i have manual adjusted heated leather seats with power lumbar supports (drivers and passengers seats are identical) I've found some really sweet fully powered seats in a junk yard out of the same exact model car as mine, only difference is the other car is a v6 model.... i really want these seats, and i'm wondering how difficult it would be to swap them out. The local dealership service tech told me i'd have to cut out the floor and weld in the other floor, but i really don't see that as the only option-after all, aren't all the b5 bodies the same coming out of the factory?!? Any help would be great, all other threads are about 2000 models and older without power lumbar and having the passenger seat being different- thanks in advance

I have a 2001.5 AWM with the same seats as you.
Both of my driver's side doors came off of a V6. They fit perfectly, but I had to swap and re-run all of the factory harness, since I have the symphony system.
Personally: I wouldn't mess with the seats. My car is the "sport" edition, so I have fewer features than you (no heated seats) and I'm perfectly happy with what I've got.
Wold it be nice to have some fully loaded V6 seats? Sure it would, but I can almost guarantee you they're not worth the trouble. I'm sure the effort (and money) far outweigh the payoff (IMHO).

The tech is mostly wrong. In order to have v6, or s4 seats, in your 1.8t, you would need to chop of the bracket that hold the front of the rail for your seat adjustment.
Then, you will see to square patches on the carpet. Rip them out. This is where the power seats would thread in, but there are no threads, so you need to weld nuts inside the holes in the floor.
I have done it.
Both my B5's are "sport edition" and both have heated seats. Sport package cars only add features, they do not remove any.
