As many other mentally disturbed car people out there, I like to test drive cars in my spare time that I have no intension on buying. Today I tried a 2001 S4, just to see what all the hype was about. DAMN!! This led me to an interesting conundrum.

For more or less the same price, would it be better to go with a new K04 kit for my '02 A4 or sell the A4 and get a stock B5 S4?

after long deliberation, I'm leaning towards keeping my A4, but I want to open this up to discussion to see if I may have overlooked something. So which would you choose and why?

I see what you're saying. power is about the same, braking is better, sweeter seats, and handling is better on the S4. But the interior on the B6 is a lot nicer. plus fuel economy, reliability...i know the A4 i have now is not a lemon. But S4 has so much more potential.

my car worth 18 and change now...can get an S4 for 17 to 21 grand. should i wait another year for prices to depreciate? or go now?

You have no idea how many times people compare and think about dumping their A4s for S4s.

You are looking at more maintenance with the S4 being that its twin turbocharged V6, more things to go wrong, more of a money pit for mods. A4 is fairly easy to work on as far as maintenance. If you have the cash then go for the S4.

 

I was just thinking that every upgrade i want on the A4, the S4 already has. And it's a lot less money to get S4 than mod A4 to S4's level. Is S4 maintenance really that bad?

 

If you do your own work you'll hate your self (check the knuckles of S4 owners) If you don't then who cares cuz money is no object for you
