Default A4 issue...

So this will be a long thread that most people with either get too annoyed by my poor grammar or just no one care. I'll be "Venting" to the people that understand. So yesterday I finally recieved my new pads and rotors front and rear from ECS tuning after work. That was pretty sweet considering ive been metal on metal in the front for about a month now. "The Hawk pads were on backorder":-/ But they did give next day air for no extra charge "LOVE ECS"!! :-)I usually don't let my cars get that bad. So at this time I called my good friend to arrange him to do some work on the Audi front and rear pads rotors and a drive axle, half shaft, cv shaft whatever it would be called here in the Audiforums. So all went smooth on the brakes ordered the proper brake sensor pads and got that done. Half shaft went in perfect no problems at all. Then my ASE mechanic / good friend goes for a test drive. Well not so great..... The car had a vibration so he took it back to make some adjustments and see what was up. Re tightened things down to spec and took it out again. This time makes a right turn and bang I guess it was. I wasn't there but it all just ended. The 1/2 shaft popped out of the transmission reason being it was less than a 1/4 of an inch too long. Correct part #s and everything why it didn't work out no clue. The car is a 1999.5 A4 1.8TQM I got the 1/2 shaft for the drivers side everything was all good guess not. So now the damage. It ripped the C clip through the inner differential flange " If you would like to give an input on what you would like to call it please do" So a new one is about 350 bucks I have been told used maybe out there. Took the old 1/2 shaft that only had a torn boot and is being rebuilt tonight / tomorrow. But we will know if the damage to the flange is too bad to fit itself back inside and be ok....

So what I am asking is for someone with a link to the flange and also pissed I should be at the company for making a 1/2 shaft too long and not giving a f""k about my problem. Trust me everything lines up it is the right part number and looked perfect. Guess not

Just venting

Hope all is well with everyone my wheels come in next week so i'm trying to look at the bright side. But being a poor college student isn't helping. The 1/2 shaft was purchased back home "east bay area" at a place ive been going through for years and the company of the half shaft is AUP

Thanks everyone,

-Joe

Ya that's what I was thinking but i'm lucky both of the mechanics are close friends of mine. It's just a pain in the *** to deal with this. Any clue anyone on what the part i'm talking about is called specifically? Link maybe too.... I can't find anything.... :-/

Thanks,

-Joe

Lol I don't need a 1/2 shaft everyone. I'm getting the oldddd one rebuilt. What I need is a link to a Output CV flange for the drivers side.

Had the splines re cut on the flange and everything is all good. Didn't break the bank too bad either. 220 bucks for rebuild of old one and instal with the gear oil included.

WOOT WOOT.

Default Bolt in flange?

Anyone got a link to a pic of this trans flange?
How does it go on / held on?

I can't find ANY reference to it in the B5 Ebahn manual.
I spoke to a fellow today that said they are held in by a spring loaded circlip, but then I found this tonight (I know, not an A4):
http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread...ight=vr6+axels

I thought it was a simple circlip?

He's talking about the cup that the inner CV joint bolts to with the six triple square bolts. Not sure where to source that honestly but OP, glad to hear you're back on the road.
