About to buy 1999 A4 1.8t auto... Need help
Hey guys,
Found a green 1999 Audi A4 1.8t quattro automatic that I really want to get as a DD.
It has 99k miles on it which is my only worry since it is an automatic. Was owned by an old gentlemen and garage kept.
They want $4900 for it
Car is CLEAN AS HELL! Basically paint needs to be polished. Tan leather interior in mint condition!
I have a few questions:
1. How reliable is the automatic
2. Can the automatic hold bolt-ons + K04?
3. What are somethings I need to look into before buying it so im not stuck on the side of the road a month after buying it
4. Are there any bad electrical problems with the 1999 A4
Thank you very much for any help you can provide. Yes I have gone through the stickies and done some research.

1. the car should run great. low miles and the price seems good for those miles. automatic isnt bad as long as ur not putting the peddle to the floor in that case a 5 speed would fot u better.
2. not sure on this one.
3. Check for maintenance records just as timing belt wheel axles and all the basics you would look at in any car.
4.again i dont know .
good luck with the buy with the information provided seems like a good buy lower miles, by the owner description doesnt seem like he'd be forcing the car much.

i have a 2000 a4 auto and ive got 142000 miles and the only prob ive had is 2 coil packs, not really a big deal 50 bucks a pop, timing belt and so on. ive got mine for sale for 6000 so it sounds like a good buy and i drive the crap out of my auto and its holding 15psi all day
well i live in montana and just recently made a trip to wyoming roughly 1200 miles round trip and averaged 32 mpg at 75mph, the only thing i have done is a milltek test pipe a deleted resonator factory muffler, and a homemade cold air kit pulling from where rf fod light used to be. and i have it makin about 15 psi
1. My Tip has 130,000 on it and it shifts great.
2. The auto will handle a K04 and bolt ons to a degree. Too big a turbo and you'll want to consider new guts. www.levelten.com
3. Timing belt, cam tensioner, water pump. In my experience these cars chew up wheel bearings. Also, try to have an extra grand on hand for any unexpected problems that crop up.
4. No real electrical problems. When the Bose headunit starts to go it'll fade in and out and the volume **** will get really touchy.
