Default 1999 2.4 auto A6 se - Starting Problem

Hi all, I am very new to this to bear with me.

I have the above vehicle that does not start in the morning. The engine will turn over briskley but take foe ever to fire. with constant cranking the engine eventually picks up enough momentum to start. It would appear that there is little/no fuel getting through but you can smell the fuel strongly.

Any ideas/ Suggestions?

Regards

Sean

change the spark plugs or re-gap them for starters then see how it goes

Many thanks Dave I will try just that.

I have heard that these vehicles suffer with a fuel pump problem, is this correct?

I would not say so, about the pump.
Right, first you do is change basic: plugs, air filter, fuel filter.
Then look deeper. You can test fuel pressure, if you think it's that. Also scan it for engine codes, that might be some bad engine controll sensor %) Also Faulty air flow meter etc,
