Default About to buy....how to fix??

This might be the one. It runs fine, but won't move. The car is very clean inside and out, and the guy selling it is legit.

Tomorrow I may offer him 2700 or 3000 for the car.

As far as the issue goes with it? I talked to my dad about the issue and he agrees that the issue could be a throw out bearing, he's a transmission specialist but he works on american cars. He and I could fix it no doubt, whatever it is.

But just for a second opinion, what do you guys think the problem is, and what could be a possible fix. I know you have limited info here, but work with me.
Heres the post.

Not sure what the problem is, but that's not a peanut butter interior.

Good luck!

its more than likely not the slave. i doubt its the throw out bearing either, thats not really something that just breaks, especially since he just had the clutch job done not too long ago, unless he re-used the old one. depending on what clutch he used, its possible the clutch disc broke, happened to me. i have heard of the forks breaking, but thats not too common either. it is also possible that the disc fused itself to the flywheel or pressure plate. just order yourself a new clutch kit, and buy the car. drop the tranny and fix 'er. shouldnt be too bad with a mechanic dad

I say the POP was a axle or CV joint letting go. This will cause the center diff to send all the power to the broken driveline part causing the car to go no where and feel like the clutch is working perfectly. I had this happen to me and it is a very odd feeling, but once you have had it happen once you know exactly what it is when it happens again.

If it was a broken slave or Throw-out bearing the clutch pedal would pretty much fall to the floor and stay there. A fused clutch would work and allow the car to move, it just wouldn't disengage causing grinding noise when trying to go into gear.. Car would also creep forward when started in gear. A cracked Throw-out bearing would allow the clutch to work but might cause the clutch not to fully disengage, it would also give a slight vibration when the pedal is pushed to the floor.

Bent/broken forks are very rare on the 01A, very common on the transverse transmissions. Even with a 4800 lbs clamping load dual diaphram race clutch I did not bend 1 clutch fork.

To me this would be peanut butter.

Not sure if I have ever seen gray peanut butter. Plus I dont think Audi would ever put brown inside a blue car. Thats something you find on a Ford truck. lol

MMmm, peanut butter.....Yeah, it's definitely not peanut butter, at least not by normal standards. Anyways, mike-2ptzero thanks for the good advice and I may end up buying this car tomorrow...we'll see. I'll have to crawl underneath and check it out like you said. I'll keep you guys posted!

Just made a deposit on the car. I'm paying $2900 total, picking it up tomorrow with my stepdad using a flatbed trailer. Rust spot on the hood and one on the trunk lid, no radio and the driver door doesn't line up like it should. Other than that and the drivetrain issue its a clean car! I'm stoked.

Question: One of those 2 wheel u-haul trailers would destroy the trans/ driveline right? Because of the quattro? dumb question right?

@chocolatestarfish I'm going to pm you my phone number. Im from akron-ish...Medina. But I may have some questions for you someday haha.
