About to get an A4. Questions
Im seriously consider purchasing a 99-01 A4. anythings i should look out for? Ive been hearing a few things, and starting to believe they are not too reliable.. Ive already heard about the timing belt tensionor, but anything else i should look for?</P>
I currently own a honda, and i know they can be driven for about 200k miles, what about an audi? how long can i expect my audi to last? 100k? 120k? </P>
also, what should I look for in my purchase? any must haves? </P>
thanks for helping! </P>
Edit: does anyone know the site that shows the difference between the years? i saw it a while back, but lost it..</P><edited><editID>HoLe</editID><editDate>38075.5347800926</editDate></edited>
well, here's the comsmetic way to tell between years...
Linky Linky
The A4 is not as reliable as a honda - thats a given and I could never argue otherwise. Audi's take a lot more maintenace to remain reliable. If you do keep up with that, you will be fine, and very happy with the car.
My car is 110K miles - still going very strong.
Make sure you get a sport package car. Do a search for 'sport package' and you will see how to tell. Read that entire post, though - because there was some misinformation given by some.

I just bought a 2002 A4 1.8T six days ago and I love it. I too had a Honda (Prelude) that had 182,000 miles on it when I traded it in and it still ran like a champ, so I know the thoughts going through your head right now. I was extremely worried about going from an excellent and totally reliable Honda to an Audi, that may not be as reliable and most likely will not go to 182,000 miles. However, I have loved the A4 since the new body style came out in 02 and found one with only 20,000 miles on it and all the options that I wanted. I got it from an Audi dealership and it was Certified Pre-Owned, which means it has a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty on it, so that made me feel a little better about the whole reliability issue, so I got it and I don't regret it. I figure, with low miles and good maintenence, it should last me to 100,000 miles and by then, I'll surely have kids and all and will get a mommy-mobile or SUV <img border="0" src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"> So, if you can find one with relatively low miles, and looks to be well maintained, go for it.
nahhh not an suv, an avant! And yes an Audi may not be as reliable as a Honda, but the "fun factor" is so much better. Just be sure you get a certified one, and then you can rest assured that any mechanical problems will be taken cared of. </P>
A Toureg would be nice, or maybe an allroad! OOOH YEAH an allroad!
Fun factor aside, its just nice to look over at a ricer when he is reving up his grapefruit muffler and grin. Even better when I smoke his ***.
And hey... even if he was tuned up the ying yang and he walked on me, I can still sit back and say...
