Hi new to site and wonder is anyone can help. The following faults/niggles exist on my 1998 Audi A4 TDi 110 Avant.
Has anyone had any experience of these??



1. The yellow dashboard ABS light comes on after the car has been driven for about 1/2 hour .This stays on but goes off after the car has cooled down. The ABS hydraulic unit is warm to the touch when the light is on. I suspect it is either the wheel sensors or the unit itself.

2.The LCD display on the dash computer is very dim during warm weather. Is there a fix to this other than replacing the whole unit?

3.The car has a smell from the vent system when selected to cool. It isn't the pollen filter so suspect water is entering system somewhere I can't get to and making a smell like a wet dog! I've tried air con spray and anti-bacterial sprays and wipes to no effect.

catalyst fail and smell like rotten eggs, any fault codes?

 

thanks but Its not the catalyst , but definately inside the vent trunking somewhere. No fault codes

 

could be time to change the air con filter

 

Don't think so as It only smells when diverted to 'fresh air' with air con off...........

 

the dimming can't be fixed. just be greatful that you're not missing pixels. get the fault codes read for the abs

 

Check that the drain for the water condensation in the AC is not plugged.

other possible cause could be leaking heater core. are you slowly loosing coolant?
