ABS, Engine, Brake light
Is there any way to read the ABS computer? In my Bronco, I can hook up the ABS computer and read the ABS specific codes. This tells me exactly what the problem is. I have always been concerned about the "ABS light and brake [warning] light are on? That is the ABS computer at $500 from Audi, or $350 from the rebuilders." I have the lights and annoying random screaming from the cluster right now on the wife's A4. It would just suck to replace a very costly part only to find out that it was a wheel sensor or some other ABS related part.
Will VAG COM read the ABS computer to get codes for these other components (like a wheel sensor?)? Even if the ABS module is a common failure because of an underdesigned component (cannot handle the current draw and dies, which makes the ABS module inoperative), you cannot go on that and just replace it and be sure.
