Default Advice on Changing Inner Tie rods.

Alright, so I think im gonna go ahead and change both complete tie rods in the front. Reason being is I just changed the TRE on the passenger side not that long ago, and now I have a clunk up there again and it is loose in the tie rod, I cant really tell whether its the end again or the whole tie rod though. Ive always had this weird noise up front I could never figure out (all other suspension components have been replaced), so I kind of decided I would just replace both complete tie rods and hopefully never worry about it again. Anywho, Im wondering if anyone has a step by step or some pointers at all. Thanks

get a crows foot wrent to ease removal of the rod. and use a ton of anti seize on the outer, since quite a few people have reported the outer rods siezing to the inners.

So i had the car on jacks to size up the job, and I noticed it is very difficult to get to the inside clamp of the boot that protects the rod, when you turn the wheel the other end of the boot doesnt come out far enough. I know that I could just remove the outer clamp and slide it back, but Im worried if I damage it, I might have to replace it (I ordered new ones just in case), but if I have to replace it how will I remove and reclamp the inside clamp?

I unclamped the outside then slide it back and just put a new clamp on it when done

Well I went to do the job and I couldnt figure out how you guys got it done with what youve said... The boot wouldnt just slide over the inner tie rod, the diameter of the outside part of the boot was too small and the rubber was harder than Im sure it used to be.

And I realize there is a plastic cover to give you a little more room to get to the inside clamp for the boot, but there is still terrible clearance, I dont think I could successfully put a new clamp on the boot.

I ended up just changing the ends, turns out thats where the play was anyway, hopefully my inners wont go soon (car has 170,000 miles) or anything cause I dont know how Id go about changing them.
