So I got my new sensor yesterday, and I'm gonna try to put it in today. I am worried about having to remove the CD player completely. I don't have the security code for the deck. I have had the battery disconnected before, and didn't enter a code to make it work again. Am I gonna be ok? If I need to enter the code, can a vagcom take care of it?

Yeah VAGCOM is no help with that. If youve disconnected the battery and it hasnt asked, it probably wont in the future. The same thing happened to me, and I have also completely removed the radio and it never asks for the code. Ive heard of a few others like this, so you might just luck out. Otherwise the dealer has to look it up for about 50 bux I think?

Pulled everything out, only to find out its the wrong sensor. The number of the part I bought is 8AO 959 655 D. It came off a 98 1.8T if anyone is looking for one.

You mean the bad one in my car is the wrong one? The number of the sensor in my car is 8DO 959 655 G, and the one I bought is 8AO 959 655 D. The are about the same size, but mine has the plug in the front, and the replacement has the plug on the side. Like I said, its off of a 98, but mine is an 01. I should have known better.

Update: Found the correct sensor on ebay for 80. Put it in last week and now I have no light. I drove into a wall to test it, and it works!! J/K
