Default Air intake anyone?

Has anyone been sucessful in modding the Air Intake?

i really have no need for the stock air box, and would rather just go with piping and a k&N filter

i can't find any alternate air intakes for my 1.8T except the carbino intake and i don't want to shell out $300+ for that

i found this ebay one, but its for the B6 model 1.8T

any ideas?

What do you mean you have no need for the stock air box? Are you running a BT setup pushing out 400+ horse? If not, the air box will support more than enough air flow for your needs. Drop a K&N panel filter in there and you're good to go. And FWIW, I do believe the newbie guide sticky goes over intake options for the 1.8t so you could check there for suggestions.

the airbox is better than a short ram because of how close the turbo is. however the short ram will give you slightly better sound. the one from ebay will work and it won't hurt your performance all that much. it's up to you whether you want to get it or not but it will definitely work
