airbg light came on

Default airbg light came on

i had this similar issue with the wife's vw cabrio and all the dealership could do was tell me that the airbag won't deploy durring an accident....... how do i fix this?

i haven't done that yet, cause i didn't think a reg scanner would work for that...... and i don't have a vag com yet

Autozone does it for free.

It's a standard OBD2 port.

dude...65% of B5s have their Airbag light on...lol...just live with it...

airbags are supposed to be replaced every ten years anyways...

It's a standard OBD2 port.
i understand, and already knew both of those statements, but i didn't know that they could get the code, i thought you needed a vag com to check that code

nope, i have had the car for a lil over a yr and it just came on...... the car has never been in an accident

I read something about checking the purple and yellow electrical connection under the driver seat. It said to tighten it up and that should do it...
My airbag light has been on for a year now, and I tried checking the connector, but that didn't doit.
Also, the Actron or whatever scanner Advance Auto has, does not work on B5 airbag codes - or at least it found no code for my car.
Curious to find how to continue trouble-shooting the airbag light myself, so let us all know if you figure it out. Thanks.

i'll look into that......... i was messing around with my seat looking for my chapstick........ might have bumped something
