alarm system question????

Default alarm system question????

hey guys question about the alarm system. i have a 98 audi a4 and when i used to lock the doors the alarm horn would beep know it doesnt do it anymore. anybody have any solutions?? All the doors and trunks and sunroof are close by the way.

One of the door switches could be faulty, especially the hood switch since it will still arm with it open. Do the lights still blink at the lock plungers? If not it could be a trunk or door switch too. Does the panic make the horn sound?

i have the same problem, for the alst 2 years since i got my car the horn hasent beeped with the locking, the lights still flash and the honks when i click pannic. theweard thing is i even progamed with the vag to beep the horn and it still never did it!

I would check the triggers on everything to see what one isn't working.

my car just started doing that a few weeks ago AND i was able to turn the key to lower the windows/suroof and that doesn't work either now. Any ideas?

The alarm won't beep if you arm it while a switch is open. The switches are on the hood, trunk and all the doors. There are also tamper switches on the lock cylinders in the front doors and trunk.

If you VAG COM the central lock module with all of the doors, hood and trunk closed, it will tell you via measuring blocks the detected status of the switches. It's either all ones or all zeros depending on the switch position.

where are the switches and the triggers? i had to replace the passenger door because a deer hit it so i think its that door. where do i have to check?

Front door switches are inside the door panels IIRC by the latch.
The tamper switches if installed are next to the lock cylinder.
Not all A4s have these. Rear doors are monitored via the
pillar switches. Pulling the codes from the central locking module might tell
something.


I forgot to include the measuring block (001) for door switches
if you have VAG COM.

The switch inputs are:

xxxx xxx xxxx xxxx

1 2 3 4......5 6 7......8 9 10 11......12 13 14 15

5 Rear & Passenger door switches

6 Front door switches

7 Hood

12 Rear Lid switch

1=open 0=closed

So to de-obfuscate:

Block 5 thru 7:
110 Passenger door open
010 Driver
100 Rear Doors open **

Block 12-15:
1100 Trunk lid open **

It should be all zeds if all doors are closed
and switches are working correctly.
