Alarm won't arm, suggestions?
Hiya folks, hoping someone can shed some light on my issue; I tried searching for it but only came up with posts about the alarm going off when it shouldn't, nothing really useful about it not arming at all.
When I first got the car, everything worked fine, I'd push the button and the alarm would arm, the indicator in the hazard switch would flash and it was good. I even unknowingly tested the interior motion sensors I didn't know about at the time by leaving my dog in the car while I grabbed something from my sister's house and the alarm went off minutes after I entered her place from the dog moving about inside the car.
Well a while back, I noticed that the indicator had stopped flashing after I locked the car and I didn't think much of it, just maybe a bulb was burnt out or something. I also noticed that unlocking the car, where it used to unlock just the drivers side with one click of the button and all doors with two clicks, it started unlocking everything with one click. I regarded it as unrelated and went about my business.
Well a couple days ago I had the curiosity to see if maybe something else was up, and maybe the locking issue is related after all, and I had read about people setting their alarms off by leaving a window down, locking the car, and then reaching back in to grab sunglasses/iPod/whatever else. So I decided to test my alarm, at least the motion sensors part, and did just that; rolled down a window, locked the car, and proceeded to reach in to grab something and as suspected, the alarm did not go off.
So my question is if anyone has heard of this, if anyone knows if the unlocking thing is related, and if anyone has some suggestions on making it work again. Is there a fuse or relay or something I should check? Is it maybe all centralized to the lock pump being semi-broken; it works enough to lock the car but not make the connection to activate the alarm? Its not anything I'd say I can live without, but it would be nice to know that some form of attention will be drawn to the vehicle should someone try to break in.
Also, its worth to note that the panic button works and it still chirps when I lock it so I know its not a connection issue with the alarm horn itself, its something else causing it to not arm when locked.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I would VAG it and see if you come up with much. Thats interesting that it still chirps, with mine I dont think it chirps until the last door is closed even if you have pushed the lock button. The only way I would think it would knowingly unlock the other doors when pressing the unlock button after the first press is if it thinks your drivers door is already open?? What happens when you roll down the window, wait a little while and open the door through the window. Maybe try disconnecting the battery too..
Mine used to do this, it would lock all the doors and the Led lights would flash but it wouldn't arm fully. I found out that unless the hood is fully shut it won't fully arm. I had a bad sensor detecting the hood being shut. I bypassed the sensor and it works again, just doesn't detect if the hood is open or shut.

Thanks for the input guys, its more than I was able to come up with of my own accord and through searching.
CCA4: same story when the key is used vs the remote; I questioned this as well as I didn't first notice that it wasn't arming until a little after I got a new remote from the stealership and they programmed it to my car. Up until then, turning the key once locked/unlocked just the drivers door, twice the rest, and armed the alarm. I would have mentioned that part in the original post but to be completely honest, I didn't recall that I first noticed the unlocking part after getting that new remote, until you just reminded me that before getting that new remote, all unlocking and locking was done with the key,
Screamin: that's a worthy suggestion, I'll try locking the car with the hood open tomorrow and seeing if the alarm chirps when I shut it. I figure that'll be as good a way as any to assert if the sensor is in fact detecting that it is shut. Whether or not it does chirp though, how did you go about bypassing the sensor? I'm fairly certain its not too trying of a task to know if the hood is popped or not and thus see no reason to keep the sensor functioning if there's a chance that maybe, just maybe, the impact of the hood closing makes the alarm chirp, but not fully arm from not maintaining a full connection. I dunno, makes sense in my head lol
McGovs: Sorry to see that man, definitely not something I'd want to find. Though, I was under the impression that the red light did continue to blink even if the alarm was tripped, no?
