Default Almost Home

Gentlemen, I know it's been awhile, and I'm horrible at keeping up with AF while I'm deployed. The net here is so slow it's extremely unpractical trying to navigate my way through the forum. I'm glad to announce that I should be back stateside within the next 2 months, and I've started a small stock pile of parts to install when I get home. The wife is starting to complain that my stuff is starting to take up too much space in the closet (jokingly, of course).

I've decided not to attempt the BT upgrade I was considering, because my oldest son turns 13 today, and I want to keep my baby running and in good shape so I can give it to him in about 3 years, and not worry about him killing himself with a car with a little too much power for a beginner.

Anyway, just wondering how everyone's been doing, and if anyone has any good spring projects going on. I'm going to try and keep up with AF a little better now, but it will probably only be every couple of days.

Take care...

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about having a few summer projects to keep me busy.

Good news indeed to hear you'll be back on US soil soon. Stay safe.

To echo what StormUnite said, my first car was an 84 Thunderbird with a built up 302 and a 5 speed. Runs low 13's to high 12's. As long as a kid learns the importance of respecting the machine, and not trying to extend his limits it might not be a problem.

As far as summer projects go, I need to do control arms on my A4, and maybe work on a little body work. I have a CF hood that the previous owner painted wrong, and the paint's peeling off. So I think I'm going to strip it down and paint the outsides to match the body, and maybe leave the center part (from the grill to the windshield) bare CF. Who knows. Oh, and gotta get a new tranny for my Tbird.
