Well earlier this week I mentioned my TCM allowing the car to kick down into the redline, and then not shifting, as well as "ghost" warnings, where I would get 3 warning beeps upon startup (3 always means danger, stop car, etc) but no actual warning icon.

I thought it might be my alternator, because after I replaced it in the spring, the car sits at 15 ish volts without lights or HVAC.

Usually a couple times a week Ill go see my girl after shes off work, so I pull into the parking lot at about 10 as usual, turn the car off, but still have parking lights on, as well as radio (with single amp and sub). about 20 minutes later I hear all my bass cut out. Pop the rear seat down, and see the amp is off.

Wtf.

I checked my connections, and noticed the rear speakers were off as well. Go sit back in the drivers seat, and notice it looks like my dash was dimmed. Look at volt gauge. Pegged at 8. ****. My car hates me. I do this all the time, and today, it doesn't feel like playing nice. Let it sit, gauge goes up to 10. Attempt to start, and it just clicks like a bitch. Use girlfriends car to jump mine. Got home, started right up.

So... what the hell, besides my car being stupid? I think my alternator is overcharging my battery, and drastically reducing the lifespan, as well as gaying up the rest of my electrical system. Besides trading it in for a rx8, what should I do?

 

Do you ever run your battery dead by sitting in your car listening to music? How old is your battery?

 

Never have, and I usually have it on frequently. It was replaced before I bought the car a year ago

 

Sell it for an RX8.

Well the 3 beeps mean "OMGWTFDANGER" and can be caused by 1 of 3? things
Ill check the manual tomorrow, but:

Oil pressure loss, coolant way over temp, and no coolant in tank.

They should have an icon as well on the LCD
