Default Alternator touching manifold. Is that bad?

I have an AWM block, AEB head (and AEB manifolds) with AWM cams and VVT tensioner. My alternator randomly went out on it and then (the same day) after the fix, the car complete lost spark to all four cylinders (in spite of having new plugs, coil packs and coil pack harnesses and pigtails). One thing I happened to notice is that the AEB intake manifold doesn't have the clearance of the AWM manifold, so it ends up touching (pressing hard up against) the back (plastic covered) area of the alternator. Does anyone know if the alternator being pressed up against the intake manifold could be causing the spark problem?

Thanks

I wouldn’t think so as the chassis of the alternator is already grounded to the car by the bolts that connect it to the engine. With the key on is the CEL illuminated? If not, power to the ECU is not getting there. Check your fuses.

Excerpt from Audizine.

I would check all your powers to the ECU. Best to check them right at the ECU plug. But you can start with just checking the important fuses first:

HOT IN RUN OR START:
Fuse #5 - 10A (CEL and other stuff)
Fuse #32 - 20A (Ignition Coils and Key ON signal to ECU)

HOT WITH FUEL PUMP RELAY
Fuse #28 - 15A (Fuel Pump)
Fuse #29 - 20A (MAF, O2 sensors, solenoids, etc)
Fuse #34 - 10A (Fuel Injectors)

If all those check out, you can go to the ECU pins and check:
Pin #1 - Hot in Run or Start (From Fuse #32)
Pin #2 - Ground
Pin #3 - Direct Battery Power (no fuse at all)

My concern with the alternator touching is the possibility of something arcing from the back of the alternator (something that isn't supposed to be grounding).

Having said that: you still gave me quite a bit to start with, so thank you for that!
