Default Anyone fixed a sludge problem?

Anyone here ever had a sludge problem that was easily fixed?

Something that didn't have to have the whole engine replaced!

Maybe just replaced the oil pump or screen?

Anyone with a positive ending to this story?

I took my valve covers and oil pan off. Cleaned with multiple products in the crankcase prior to that then poured even more down oil passages until I saw clean coming out the bottom. Runs like a champ.

Try Seafoam and also (as you suggested) maybe clean the pickup tube and screen. It's a good way to keep the sludge at bay.

sludge is a progressive problem, the earlier you catch it the less damage it will cause. the way to prevent it is careful maintainence. how would you define a "sludge problem"?

When I bought mine there was a bit of sludge. I wouldn't call it a "problem" just yet but it was enough to make me nervous. I changed my oil w/ full syn about every 1500 miles for like 7500 miles and that took care of it. If you have sludge on the oil filler cap and the car runs like sh*t you might have to be a bit more aggressive than that though.. GL!
