Default Anyone looking for a S/C V6 A4?

Saw this on Autotrader. Sounds like a good deal if anyone is interested. The car has already had a bunch of stuff done to it. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...&cardist=8

I Can attest to their spending heaps of money on the whole PES upgrade, etc. Been there, done that, will never get the money back in resale. Usually done when one intends on keeping the car for some time. Just wonder why the price is just $8500...would have the compression and leak-down tested with that mileage to be sure that all is OK. Also claiming 9 to 10psi means that they likely have a smaller pulley on the charger, thus will reduce the lifespan ofthe motor significantly; advise to go back to the stock PES pulley, or risk having the motor go "boom". The stock 2.8's do not do well with high PSI.

Second all of that. I spent a metric sh*tload of money modifying my 300ZX, and got comparatively nothing back (I got back about 1/8 what I put in, and that was after selling quite a bit of the car separately). What I lost on the overall sale would pay off what I still owe on my house and leave me almost enough to supercharge my A4. Barring a visit from the NY Lotto with one of those huge cardboard checks, I don't think I'll ever go that far modding a car again. That being said, it was great fun, I had no mortgage, no kids, nothing but myself to look out for and a $375/month rent, so I could and did do it. Had I known then what I know now, I'd have saved most of that and had a huge jump on my retirement by now (or had my house paid off now, at age 33). Lesson learned, but it was a blast, it's a great hobby, and it's better than blowing the money on meth or strippers.

Agreed also on a few concerns like those that CycloSteve mentioned. I've also heard of great reliability with the PES kit using the pulley that comes with the kit, but I've heard of stock-internal motors mulching their rods using the 2.9" overdrive pulley on the blower - it's highly recommended that at the least, the rods be upgraded before overboosting the supercharger (from everything I've read). If I were a prospective buyer, I'd ask to go with the owner and have compression and leakdown tests done on the car (and be present while this is done) to ensure that reliability isn't already shot.

Still, that's a hell of a nice looking car and if it's still running well and isn't compromised by the high-boost pulley, buying it would be a great move - slap the original pulley back on, and enjoy the boosted car, or buy it, de-mod it, sell the power mods, and get back a nice chunk of the purchase price. Hard to see a downside really.

I know, right? I haven't seen this one around either. I could count on one hand the number of nice A4s I've seen around town. And an awful lot of moms driving them too.

I wonder how many people on here are from MI? I passed a new TT, and the guy gave me a rock on gesture, made my day. Then my ipod broke, damn.
