I own a 99 Audi A4 Quattro 1.8T(Automatic) and looking for that extra HP with the best bang for my buck..so i've heard APR ECU Stage 1 or K04 Turbo upgrade are good HP gain..Which option is the best for performance and price?

Price wise get an APR ECU or any tune for that matter. As for a K04, I personally would never spend that much money in my life from APR for a K04 upgrade, biggest waste of money for the performance, If I wanted to spend thousands, I would go big and not a K04 however if you find a K04 upgrade cheap from someone, then go for it.

Chipping your car is the easiest mod you'll ever do and the most bang for your buck. Can't say the same for a K04.

 

Adding a KO4 will not add power unless you get a tune to go with it. Start with the chip until that bores you, then look into a BT setup. Mike at ringer-racing.com can hook you up with some knowledge

 

I just got my 2000 ATW chipped for about ~$650(?) out the door. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

I got the APR Stage 1 chip, had to be soldered to the ECU so it took more time. Honestly, didn't even care. Spiking at 20lbs and holding at 16 is awesome.

 

Just be careful you don't over power that slush box tranny. Chip first then K04 if you think you need it. Stock intake in any case.

 

Thanks guys appreciate the help! Sounds like il be going with the APR Chip. So far ive put a K&N Cold Air Intake & Cat-back exhaust..So what kind of HP increase would i be looking at with APR Chip?

Make sure you isolate/insulate your K&N "cold" air intake from the turbo and exhaust that are about 1 inch away from it or you will have a hot air intake. Just saying. No way under hood air can be colder than grill intake air. Looks good I bet.

 

Don't forget to get a boost gauge and upgraded diverter valve.
