audi a4 engine???
hi guys i currently own an audi a4 1997 1.8t i hit a pot hole and leak all the oil thru my oil pan and the engine lock so im looking for a new engine. how do i know which engine fits my car? i found one with engine code atw and my cars engine is AEB? would this engine fit my audi? does anyone know where i could find a cheap engine? thank you
ATW and AEB are slightly different. I think ATW is drive by wire and has a few more horse. AEB is drive by cable. I believe the ATW's came with a K03S and the AEB's came with a K03. The difference between the two turbos is that the K03S is an improved K03.
A 1.8 is a 1.8. If you have an AEB stick with that since it's DBC and you would need to mod some stuff to go DBW. All 1.8t (Audi motors) have he K03 the K03's were on the transverse motors (VW). The reason for more HP between the 00-01.5 cars is that Audi upped the boost from the factory for those years.
Wrong. The newer b5's had ko3s's. And converting from dbc to dbw is a huge ordeal.
Just stop please.
You need an 058 block which the AEB and ATW are. The only difference is the AEB has a large port head and no sai. You can swap the heads or just leave it if you are staying with a stock turbo. You can then sell the aeb head to recoup some of your cost since they are worth $300-500 in used condition.

I see nothing wrong in what I posted care to elaborate?
I'll elaborate for Cincy, since he rarely comes around here. There are vastly different 1.8's, and the OP needs to buy the correct one. He has an 058 block with an aeb head, and needs to stick with that. If he took your advice, and happened to grab an 06a block, even using an AEB head, it would not work for him. None of his accessories would hook up and none of the sensors are the same.
You're plain wrong on both accounts, sorrry.
