audi just took a shit on itself last week...so i need to vent!
^^^man, that's just mean to post that. This morning we had an air temp of 4 degrees at my house, with windchill factors around -20. Screw that noise. My parents live in Tampa (as I see you do too). On days like this, when the weather is THAT cold, Tampa is more and more appealing.
what? in the autos? or manuals. i know that with the car sitting there idleing. the only thing moving in the tranny is the input shaft. which is not engauged otherwise the car would be moving.
in the autos it prolly would alittle(but would be minamal) cuz the torque converters moving but. who knows.

Engine gets warm which is attached to the what again? Try it yourself, go out and start the car and run it w/o warming up and try to shift. Next time give it a few mins and see how much easier it is to shift.
wow so your saying that the radiant heat from the motor will heat the 3 quarts of tranny fluid up to operating temp? how long are you suggesting let the car run saying its -10*f out? 45mins lol, i mean i let my car warm up for 20 mins and the temp gauge is not even off the cold mark.
what i mean is,let it warm up some and just take the first few miles slow. slow shifts, not getting into the throttle much and you would be better off and not waste a gallon of gas trying to warm the tranny up lol

if your car takes that long to warm up, something is deff wrong with it. Shouldnt take more than a few mins, 10min tops. But yes, idling that long is just wasting gas. If you give it a few mins, the car will shift since the fluid will have some temp to it. Its not like it wont see any heat at all.

I would have to agree with Cincy on this one, as long as you let your car warm up for a few minutes and then take it easy on the car for the first mile or two, you should be in good shape. I go by my idle and vacuum, when my idle drops and vacuum reaches 20in, I go (I just take it easy for the first few minutes.)
just finished the flex pipe, but still worried about the water coming in the passenger door. it hasn't rained or even worm enough to melt any snow or ice so i cant really tell where its coming from...
well enough with this madness time to go snowboarding...

The cold is taking its toll on my car too. When it starts getting cold the heat, windshield wipers, blinkers, and rear defroster dont work. The minute we get a nice warm day it starts working again. Im trying to figure out the problem at the moment because its not drivable in the cold were getting. Its most annoying.
