Default Audi Key

So when I first bought my Audi it didn't come with the flip key with the remote. So all i have is a key and it gets annoying not having a remote and plus if I lose that key I'm SOL. And I've been reading that in order to buy a remote key you need to already have one to program it?

This has been answered many times, searching will yield many opinions. I've done this on a 97 12v; bought a used oem remote off ebay with blank key, had it cut, then done the remote learning (key in ignition, one in door, series if lock unlock etc etc). But this was on a Canadian 97 12v V6. There are others that have said when they called the dealer they were told their 97 does not have a remote module. Mine did. Not sure if it's a Canadian vs US model thing, 1.8t vs 2.8 thing, who knows.

So you either try going through the dealer, or you do some leg work like I did.

Thank you! Pshhh I rather put the work in and spend maybe a couple hours trying to figure it out rather then paying another $300+ to have a dealer do it for me.
