Default AWD Floating Sensation? 99 Audi A4 Wagon

Just bought a used 99 Audi A4 Wagon. I had it out on the highway in a snowstorm today for the first time, and it felt as if I were floating or about to fishtail the entire time. I found myself overcorrecting with the steering-- I'm wondering if this is just what AWD feels like; something I'll have to get used to? Thanks!

Well, driving in any snow should meen slower, more controled driving. I have Quattro and I feel as if the car may "float" but that is because of the weather conditions, any car will get that feeling if the snow is sitting on the road. The Quattro will help you keep overall control of the car but not prevent fishtails and such. The difference with the Quattro is that basicly in a RWD car too much gas will fishtail but in the Quattro the front powerd wheels can keep the car traveling foward. (In theory you can drive the car sideways (controled) alot easier.

Quattro will make corrections easier, and quicker.

Hope this helped more than it confused you. lol.
