The point is that the updated K03 isn't some kind of magical turbo that makes 20 more HP just by existing. It was designed to hold boost better, and then the tuning was updated accordingly. More boost is what gives the newer cars more HP, not the turbo.

I guess I get what you're saying, but is the updated turbo not considered a K03s?

I think he is asking if on forums such as this we consider it a K03s... You can't go to a dealer and just ask for a K03 either.

The AWM K03 has a different part number than the AEB/ATW K03, right? Like K03-0029 vs K03-0023 or something along those lines?

That is exactly what I was thinking. So the K03s officially doesn't exist, but what my turbo is what some would consider to be a K03s? I was going to go to the dealer and ask about which turbos go to which engine codes etc. I'm going to remove the turbo tonight and try to post up a pic as soon as possible.

If your going to the dealer just tell them you need a turbo for an 01 a4. W/ engine code awm. Might need part or all of you vin. But I'd see if someones selling one on the forums.

Unless I can find a really good deal on a used turbo that's in excellent condition, I think I'm going to just do a rebuild. Any reason I shouldn't? I saw a video on youtube and it seems pretty straight forward.
