B5 wont run
on saturday night i was driving and all of a sudden my car lost all power and wouldnt start back up. so i waited to make sure nothing was leaking and nothing did so i went to start it up and it fired right up but at idle the RPM's were jumping and about 15 seconds later it died again, i turned the key and all it would do is turn over.
I figurewd out if you prime it first it will start everytime but die 15 seconds later unless you keep your RPM's up.
Please help its my dd
oh and has anyone's hood latch broke if so how did you get your hood open

What is strange is that there are no codes. The CEL doesn't even flash when it is running rough? I think a clogged fuel filter would be a last resort, possibilities would be MAF or throttle position sensor, but there is not much to go on here. Did you fill up just before this happened? Did you actually scan for codes with Vag-com or are you just going with no CEL = no codes?
To be clear does it die while you're actually moving, or does it die while idling? If it does both, that's another problem or possibly multiples. With no codes it could be a lot of things honestly, so we're shooting in the dark.
You mentioned you had some idle surging then it died, that makes it sound like your idle control valve (ICV). A lot of the times you can take it out and clean it, but sometimes it can require replacement.
What have you tried to date?
