Took my A4 on the road today got it up to 80mph and when I pulled thru the toll booth today the engine knocking was to loud to talk to the toll worker!
Then when I got off the highway and started driving on normal streets the sound went away!

I sat in neutral and reved it up and sure enough the noise came back!

The whole time the oil light was blinking any it beeped a few times?

What engine?

This could be misfires, slipped T-belt, bad oil pump... or sludge.

ya should probably check that oil first.

Yes, I just had it changed 2 weeks ago. mobile 1 0w40.

Talked to a friend who is a vw tech. said hes confident he can fix the problem.
The problem of course, OIL SLUDGE! hes gonna check it wednesday, clean everything out and go from there!
