Plans from above- complete
We will start off this post by saying a lot has changed on the car in the past two weeks it has been in the garage. Some of you will like the changes others not so much, and some of you may like some of the changes while not others, that is alright. [
]
First off some of you may have seen this in another thread, but I purchased a second set of sewer caps. Why? Well be cause I love the way they look and they are not really common on b5s.

This second set happened to be much more polished than the ones I had on my car and came with brand new tires. So it was a great purchase on my part. My plan was to swap the tires so I could put the more polished set on my imola and toss the other set on my bamboo a4. What a pain this process was I went to discount the swapped the 215/40s to the old caps and those were ready to go, but in the process they tore 2 of my 205/40s (which I had to pay to replace). This was on Friday, I needed then asap because the air ride on my car was already complete and I wanted it on the road. I was told I would have the wheels first thing Monday, well no tires were had. I didn’t end up getting my tires until Thursday of the week (july 16). I got the tire mounted on Friday and finally got the wheels back on the car today, which was the first time the car was on the road since the air install.

This was going to happen because over the 4th of july weekend I ordered my Air Lift kit and it was to arrive on the 7th. So I got home from work on the 7th, ( no air ride at the door ☹) Go inside and later when my dad is going out he sees that the delivery truck must have come and not rang the door.
I run to the garage to find my air ride stuff waiting for me so I take the a4 out of the garage and clean up a little so that I can bring the imola in. That first night I got my st coilovers removed from the car (2hrs maybe, to remove it all).
little brother photo bombing in the back haha

every day had to take this all out of the garage and put it back in before closing it for the night (real annoying)

The rest of the week was slowly spent getting my air ride installed. Harness one day, trunk set up another day, air lines bags a different day. (process went on Tuesday- Friday). I was only able to work on it 3-4hrs a day after work till it got dark due to crappy garage lighting, a friend helped me every night after we got out of work.

My plan for the set up was to be super clean and for it to look like it had come from factory that way. All lines were run as cleanly as possible without having to drill new holes in the body or firewall. The trunk I want to be clean while still keeping a full size spare. And the remote I wanted to be hidden when I was away from the car. (you never know where youll have to park)

air lines were tucked in with all these wires
untitled-7.jpg by Nathan Tello, on Flickr
The kit I ordered did come with dual 444 compressors but I currently only have one hooked up, while I find a place/make a bracket to mount the second. The compressor and manifold were mounted where the cd changer use to be and the tank was mounted to the rear deck (repainted the rear deck, since mine was entirely faded and it was out of the car to install the tank.). The lines would ran through the side o f the trunk and under the rear seat. There were already holes leaving the interior so we just ran the lines for each side through there, that is also where we ran the wiring for my puddle lights. The controller ran behind the dash and now sits in the ashtray. When not in use the ashtray is closed and the controller is 100% hidden as are any signs of the car being bagged.
this is where some of you will be [headbang] or [=(] or [facepalm]. The switch for the puddle lights is hidden next to the driver seat on the floor. they wil only be used from time to time and the install was done well so you dont even know they are there.

While the car was in the garage I took the time to do an oil change and replace the annoying oil sensor light that kept coming on my cluster, also replaced my fan clutch and blade as well as new coolant tank and cap in hopes of stopping the overheating when in traffic or sitting at idle. This did infact happen and the car now doesn’t move past the half way line.
I also tackled the fmic install today, and what a terrible idea that was. It does look good now that it’s done. But I hate the fact I had to cut SOOO much of my bumper away. Bumper feels like its gonna break if I hit a bug or any small rock, leaf, air...
Below are some picture of the process and the end results for the past 2 weeks.
