Behind glovebox
how much space is behind the glovebox.
Im hoping to re-install my sirius tuner & ipod adapter for my JVC radio. I have the 7inch single din ( AVX7010 i believe ) and it comes with a tuner box but am hesitant to start unscrewing stuff if there isnt enough room in there. I wanted to possibly place it on the passenger floor board but it doesnt look like the carpet comes off easily.

Open your glovebox. Push in on the sides of the open glovebox and it will fall down much lower. Pull off the panel on the side of the dash; it is exactly like th one on the driver's side that covers the fuse panel. To drop the surround of the glovebox, undo the 2 bolts that are holding it up that are under that panel, and one bolt that is near the tranny tunnel. The one near the tranny tunnel can only be accessed when the glovebox has been dropped down as described in the first step.
This should be more than enough room to see what you're working with.

To completely open your glove box do it correctly . Open the box normally and then press the 2 release levers (one above each of the side runner bearings) at the same time. The glove box will fall open to the floor. It is extremely simple.
That said - I don't think you will have much room at all to work with behind the glovebox.

I mounted my media box on the underside of the dash on the passenger side, right over the footwell light. I removed the bulb from that side so that the bulb heat wouldn't affect the box (I doubt it would but you never know). If you get down on your back and look up at the bottom of the dash over there, you can see it. I mounted it with the inputs facing the footwell so no wires would be visible, and then just ran the iPod interface cable up into the dash and forward behind the glovebox, and then into the glovebox for the iPod. Works great, it's easily accessible for adding new components, and it's completely invisible from the seats or the street.
