Best AirBox Modd
Welp, for starters: Welcome
For future posts, its helpful to everyone if you add the year, engine, transmission, and any mods already done to your car, either in your post or in your signature (edit in User CP)
So lets start with that, then we can get a better idea of your options, because some motors take more kindly breathing mods than others

Ya its a B5 forum but there were several half years and a face lift to the B5 chassis, between which there were some pretty significant changes, so it just helps to throw the year in there too
Ok so, with the 1.8T you're aren't going to see a ton of performance increase with an intake/airbox mod/cone filter, as the stock setup is pretty well designed already. However, it will definitely sound way cooler
I haven't done any of these mods so I dunno if they're worth a sh*t, but here's a couple:

I've also seen guys do a completely custom CAI setup with some exhaust tubing and a K&N cone filter from eBay, the possibilities are pretty much limited by your imagination.
Like I said, you're not gonna see much in the way of performance from any of this, the higher intake air temps might even hurt ya a little

Well mine being a 97 and a V6 it might be a little different, but there's a plastic cover on top that just pops off. That covers up the ICM (which i don't think you have) and the MAF and some other ****. The intake pipe coming from the front grill just slides out, then the top of the airbox is held on by 4 silver clips. Once you get the lid off, take the air filter out and you should be able to see where the bolts are that hold the airbox in.
That would help I'm kinda cleless how to take out my airbox so anything would help. Even some simillarity wouldn't hurt. I can't even find my airfilter. I am going to pick a new one up on my way back in half hour or so and might as well work on the box I guess

Ok so the flat tube coming out of the lower right hand corner of the picture is attached to a vent behind the front grille. Part of it is removable and part of it is not. The bit to the left with the grooves in it that turns down into the airbox just pops out, don't be afraid to yank it, its not gonna break. The black plastic thing shaped like Texas with the little scoop on it covers the top of the airbox and the MAF sensor, its held on by a coupla clips and also pops right off. With those two pieces removed you'll be able to see the top half of the airbox. There'll prolly be some wires and sensors and **** on top of the airbox lid, don't touch them lol. The airbox lid is held on by four silver clips, two on the right side and two on the left. If you're doing this shortly after driving the car, careful not to melt your hand off on the motor when unclipping the two on the right. With the clips un-done, you should be able to wiggle the lid off the airbox, revealing the air filter. That should get you up to the beginning of those airbox mod DIY's i posted a few posts up. Good luck!
EDIT: Forgot to add that obviously yours is gonna look different than that pic, being the 1.8 and all, but hopefully this helps at least a little?
