My suggestion would be to forget the mod and learn how to do basic maintenacne on your car.

I beleive there is hose from the SAP connected the the airbox lid. You will need to remove this as well. Use a flat head screw driver to carefully pry the plastic piece away from the lid, using the box for leverage. The top as a bunch of wires on it and cannot be easily taken out of the car. I usaully flip it upside down and out of the way and you should have plenty of acces to the filter, and lower portion of the box. Be carfeul with wires and such.

lol the airbox looks identical on 1.8 same place and same set up from the looks of it. im gonna go now and see what i can do.

well i failed lmao i just ended up chaning my filter to k&n high flow. I looked over it and it took me a good hour and a few cuts to change it lmao. Its bloody hard to do! and as it is i though about it and i realized reading another thread is that my car is still under 3 more years of warranty so i am going to avoid doing anything silly :P thanks for all the help though! you guys rock!

Yeah, the thing with airbox mods (and dont flame the **** out of me for this) is that there's risk. You risk water/contaminants getting sucked in your engine. If you live in Arizona, great! But I live in Oregon, ******* wet wet wet. I'm gonna take it snowboarding too! So I wanted to do the cone mod with a CAI and an aftermarket heatshield, but not gonna happen. Too much risk for me for a nicer sound. I'm just gonna get a splitter valve and some techtonics goodies and call it even.

hi im trying to get a cone filter setup for on my 2006 A4 2.0 and been having trouble figuring out how the heck to get the top half of the stock airbox off. if you happen to know or know a good place to look (i've been searching for days). could you point me in the right direction.

'06 is a B7, right? Check that forum, should be much more knowledge over there...

I was about to flame for thread jacking, but realized this was an old thread he dug up from the grave... but still, don't thread jack...
