Best Mods for my b5??
#23
K&N filter - $50
Cat back exhaust - $1100
Super sprint headers - $1200
Overbored throttle body - $400
Gasket-matched and ported manifold - $750
Bigger injectors - $500
ECU reflash - $500
Power gain over stock - 25-30hp if you're lucky
Bottom line - like I said, mod it for style, braking, and handling. The V6 knows its role - low and slow.

X2...
Unless you have lots-o-money.
I'm thinking the 034 kit will be somewhere in the range of at least $1800-2400 for the bolt on kit. The turbo itself should be around $900ish from what a quick google search revealed. Exhaust manifold Y-pipe, 400-500(?) easily more, downpipe 300-400 again, easily more. That's only the hardware. Not to mention the S4 intake manifold, different coilpacks for the s4 manifold, Intake, wastegate, Exhaust, Tuning(!)...
I can still dream though...

I dsagree. in 98,99, and 00 it still had 40hp more than the 1.8 stock and 20 more in 01. and stock is what most people are running. but there is no doubt about it. theres zero aftermarket love for the 2.8. hopfully 034 sells some of these kits. but as it is noted, the 2.8 is the same exact block as the 2.7, just bored and less a few main bolts, and they can easily be had cheaper than s4's. add some rods and pistons, maybe add a few main bolts, and you got the same thing as a bored 2.7 plus, the 2.8 heads have bigger ports. 2.8 a4's therefore must be just as capable as s4's. too bad theres no tuning for them though. but as stated above, stock for stock, the 2.8 is the "fast" car. I just realized this as i bought a stock ecu for my build and put it in to see if it works. damn are 1.8's slow stock!

^While it is true that the 2.8 came with certain amount of more horsepower from factory, it was slower compared to a mostly stock 1.8T with a chip. The 1.8T has a lighter engine and half the time came with less options compared to the 2.8 since it was the lower trim level, which gives the 1.8T more advantage when it comes to power to weight ratio.

For the record, the cost of the turbo setup from 034 (from what I was told) is $3900, about $600 more than a G2. Apparently the preliminary runs were making 350+hp but that's gonna take more than the kit includes. They said those numbers were made with water-meth, a big FMIC, etc (and you'd need rods to survive that output), suddenly your $4000 turbo system becomes an $8000 project or more.

since the s4 and the 2.8 use the same block. and s4 guys upgrade their heads with 2.8 heads. in theory you can swap pistons and rods from an s4 and and drop the compression. then buy the rest of these components..heaaders turbos ecu....... you would have an s4 engine correct?
