Default Bigger rims bad?

Hi, I want to get 18s for my 2000 a4 1.8t, but I heard that if you get like 18s for a car over a long period of time its bad for your car, is that true?

Well, bigger rims in general just make your car handle worse. Thats why you don't see alot of racers with big chrome 18's. Most racers just use super lightweight and super-expensive wheels, which are costly for anyone.

But, your not racing so if you really want them get them, I have 17's and they seem to go fine with my car. Overall though, I don't think they do damage to your car.

lots of people have 18's, man. Some have 19's - but with 19's you seriously degrade your handling and performance. 18" is the typical compromise and looks really good. You won;t hurt your car, but your ride will be stiffer with less rubber.

I plan to do the same this summer. If you don';t already have stock sport suspension, I would suggest a suspension upgrade first, then the wheels - simply because susp upgrade actually does something for performance. And if you get 18's first your car will look like a 4x4.

Your ride will be stiffer, but the car will handle better. If you like the classice boat feel and lots of cushion on the bumps then try to go for a less agressive suspension setup.

19's will not rub if you know what you're doing. but they are pretty useless anyhow unless you just want a showcar.
