Default Blacked out

I saw on UpstateNYA4 pictures that he blacked out the grille, that looks really nice. I think i want to do that to my grille, im kind of sick of the stock and dont want a debadged one. Any ideas on how to do it to make it with a matte finish? Thanks.

spraypaint? im about to paint a spare grill i have.

the car is white and im thinking of doing the trunk lid, roof and hood in black all the way down to where the grill meets the bumper, then the grill would be all black except the rings on the front and back would be white like the car so they stand out.

i would like to do a spare set of rims i have in white but i know i would have a heart attack trying to keep them clean.

Yep - I have to paint mine every couple months due to road debris chipping the paint. That's life - the look of it is well worth it to me. Nice work on yours - looks great!

you should be fine without a clear coat. i did mine. just sand down the chrome with a fine grit sandpaper. use 2 coats of primer and i used about 6 coats of standard black spray paint. i have detailed my car at least three times since i did it and it is fine. and not having the clear coat gives it a nice matte finish. debagged and planning on painting my rear rings in the same fasion. should work out about the same.

I just did the rings, and left the chrome on the trim - sets it off nicely and keeps it from looking like the trim ring fell off. That being said, your grille looks really good with the trim painted.

400 grit before and matte clear coat after work well for me.
