Default Blinking oil light

My wife called me yesterday and said she pulled over because the oil light was blinking. I drove over and checked the oil and it was midway between low and high. I added a little more oil and drove it home a few miles. The light did not come on. What would be the best course of action here? Is it moist likely the pressure switch gone bad? BTW, what is the max temp the oil should be at on the oil temp guage?

It is a '98 V6 Quattro.

I'd try the sender, but if that doesn't do it get the oil pressure checked. Soon.

My V6 temp sits at about 225F most of the time, if I drive hard in the summer I can get near, but never over, 250F.

First thing I'd do is check the wiring to the pressure switch, especially at the connector. If you have vagcom you can see the switch's status through measuring blocks while you jiggle the wire to see if it changes.

I think you are all jumping the gun a bit. Sometimes this can just mean low oil level.

Which once you added a quart or 2 the goes off.

If your oil level is topped off but its still coming on it could be an oil pressure issue.

You'd need to have it verified using a mechanical gauge. Most VW/Audi specialty shops or dealers can to an oil pressure test.
