Default Blown Turbo or Coil Pack?

Got my 01 a4 1.8t Quattro APR chipped today with the 91 octane setting. I was boosting fine all day today and came back, replaced my front struts and took it out to test them around.

For some reason though, i hit about 16 psi and my engine started sputtering.. then after that, I couldnt boost 4psi without my engine sputtering. Then i couldnt boost at all without sputter.. It seemed to work fine on vacuum and cruising around not boosting.. then as soon as i got home, it had trouble idling. kept dipping bellow 1k RPM and back. The check engine light kept bouncing on and off seemingly then never came back on...

I hope its not a blown turbo and maybe just misfiring with a coil pack and rough idle. Ive already replaced 2 and my car has 130k miles.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad misfire to me. At 130k miles the coil packs are on their way out. I would just replace the other two and proceed happily.

I have the R1 DV installed already. I'm pretty sure the bearings on my turbo are going bad, hear a clicking noise with high boost. Probably in need of a rebuild kit or new ko3.

On the other hand I'll run the codes in the morning and replace the coils. I just think it's weird it would happen within 100 miles of when I chipped. My last guess would be boost leaks.

Did you gap down your plugs? Stock .032" gap won't work with a chip - you need to drop it to .028" to run right.

^This. Re-gap your plugs and take it for a spin. None of the symptoms you listed describe a blown turbo.

Blown turbo will mean that white smoke is coming out the exhaust right?

This was my very first thot.
Usually when your turbo goes it makes a loud dentist drill noise.

Exact thing happened to me the day I got my car chipped. I thought it was a bad coil too but as they already said, set the gap to .028 from .032 and problem solved.
