Default bmw rear fogs different?

Sooo i was at blockbuster returning a move, and the guy driving the BMW behind me parked next to me, and of course cuz hes a dbag, said "Young man, you are aware you have the wrong bulb in your rear lights right? Only the one side is lit up." and i said the usual "Actually, SIR (kinda dbaggedly myself), its a german thing, theres only one rear fog light. Its so people dont think im breaking when my fog lights are on." to which he said "So... why turn it on?" and i said its on when my lights are (bullshitting him).

So besides the fact i love lecturing people on german automobiles, since hes driving a BMW, i thought he would have known that... are their lights different? So its not just a german thing, more of an audi thing?

I don't know if BMW has rear fogs. It is a European thing to have only one rear fog light (it is illegal to have two in most countries, including Germany). You could find more information on wikipedia under something like 'automobile lighting' or something...
