Default Body Kt Install help

Hey All,

After failing to get my asking price for my kit which I've failed to put on for the last 2 summers.... I'm going to attempt it myself.

I have a Reiger RS4 style front bumper, and side skirts going on to my 2001 A4 1.8t

Does anyone have a DIY bumper removal / bumper install guide?

I'm sure I can get the bumper off.. maybe... but my biggest fear is once I get it off, I'll be stuck with it off.

Also, anyone have steps / pics of removing / replacing the rockers?

Thanks!

bumper is held on by two long, vertically-oriented bolts, one behind each of the lower grilles, and two clips on each side just forward of the wheel well. undo the bolts and wiggle that sumbitch till it comes off.

Not sure what you mean by "rockers", but the lower mouldings are attached to the doors, a big plastic piece comprises the remaining moulding under the doors and also acts as door sills for both doors on each side. I've never done side skirts, but odds are that will need to be removed.

replacing the bumper is the reverse of removing it. wiggle it in place first, put the bottom clip in on each side, then push in towards the center line of the car and up to lock in the top clip, and then tighten the bolts.

or pay a shop to install it..... sorry man but if you gotta ask how to do something and then think you can't finish it.... you shouldn't be doing it, but if you want to know how to take a bumper off..... check the timing belt diy.... for side skirts search around a few people have shown their projects, they might be able to help

CCA4 pretty much explained everything on taking off your bumper.

As for side skirts, not sure which ones you have but generally they just stick right on to the sides of the B5. There are people who went as far as making custom brackets for them but all in all, you could just drill holes on each end of the skirt and screw it to the panels.

One thing that's gonna be apparent are the stock side moldings of the A4 (if you have 1998+), you can either take these moldings off and shave the bolts, take the moldings off and replace them with some after market ones, or take the moldings off and replace them with the S4 ones.

Best of luck tackling the project.

Its cool, just run no bumper and a massive front mount.

But really the bumper is really easy. I still have to put mine back on but I need my intercooler welded on first.
