I was looking at the Podi but I decided I want a 3 gauge pod to go on the left side rather than over the steering wheel.

If you need a boost gauge I have 2 used Autometer gauges(phantom and ultra-lite).

Yes Podi has a steering column setup for the B5 A4 and I am a Podi dealer if you want one. I can also get you the NewSouth Performance ColumnPod, that one puts the gauge in the center.

I have the steering column boost gauge and love it. I got mine from newsouthperformance because podi didn't make it for b5 at the time.

I made my own vent mount for my boost gauge, it's cheap, easy, and looks pretty bad *** if you do it right. As far as the gauge goes the first thing i'd decide if i were you is do you want an electronic or mechanical one, mechanical is cheaper, but electronic are more accurate.

Default Installed my VEI gauge

I just got my VEI gauge from Podi.ca, I didn't want to cut anything, so I bought
2" ABS pipe cap, drilled holes on the back of it.
In order for the gauge to sit in the cap, I had to turn it down a bit.

Connected it to the fuel pump wire, ran a vacuum hose...trick is - the vacuum hose should run almost straight from the back of the gauge, then I put 4-5 layers of self-adhesive (double side) tape so that the cap just sticks to my dash. No drilling or any mods on the dash, anywhere.

bbboy, how come you decided to put it where you did? seems like it would be hard to see while driving. looks like a clean install though, well done.

Yeah, that does look like a clean install. Nice DIY.

Mike, do you have any links to pics of those two different pods? I'm going to need a boost gauge, and will probably order one with my phantom purchases while in Iraq (as in, not telling the wife I ordered it, just tell her to put it with the car and I'll install it when I get back).

Cool

I did the vent mount pod, but since I'm cheap I used a dremel on my baby.
(How can people justfiy $2-300 on a boost gauge/pod!?) It took a few hours of dremeling and filing to get the fit perfect, but I'm really happy with it. All in all I'd say it was a 3.5/10 for difficulty because of the need for tools, the possibility of really ******* up your vent, and the time.

Drivers View: I'm holding it up with my fingers. It sits just a few degrees lower normally. I'm waiting to get an ultrabright LED (because the normal one is too dim) before I glue it in place.
