Default boost gauge problems

its a stock 1997 a4 1.8t. got an autometer boost gauge. installed said gauge accordingly. put the t-fitting in the correct place. did everything properly, lets just put it like that. and ive checked multiple postings to make sure it was done correctly. and when the car is at idle it does read -20 vaccum. stock boost is 7 lbs, so on the roll it should boost up to 7 but it doesnt. the needle doesnt go past 0 and the car doesnt feel any different. so pretty much its reading the vaccum but when your driving it doesnt read the boost. somebody, anybody, help?

Check and see if your wastegate is broken (With the car off and cool see if you can move it back and forth which you should be able to) Is it manual or auto! More info please

which way should the wastegate be able to move? like front to back, side to side? i put the t-fitting where its supposed to be, on the hose that goes into front of the manifold. i checked alot of write ups and whatnot before i did it. it should be working properly

those are the possible spots to tap into. if you tapped into the one on the right then check to make sure the other end is connected to the DV

Before you said you SHOULD be able to move the wastegate, now you said you SHOULDNT be able, my car is doing the same and i had a CEL for an N75 so i thought was my problem, but this could be it...
